Music Submission

Guidelines:

Gryphon Cafe is a small place, with a maximum capacity of about 75 people. The setting is very intimate and we prefer to book ORIGINAL music from solo and duo performers. We rarely book full bands, as they take up a great deal of the space in the cafe, leaving little room for an audience.

Gryphon does music Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 to 11.  There is a break in the middle.  Musicians need to bring a small PA system or Amp with multiple inputs for the room.  We have no PA system.  Gryphon pays $50 for the night and allows you to sell your CDs and merchandise.

Setup is best done between 8 and 8:30.  There is a movie theatre next door, so the crowd will usually fluctuate depending on the movie times.  We get a lot of people before and after films, so there is decent turnover in the room, offering better exposure.  The shows are free and open to all ages.

Gryphon is a non-smoking venue and offers coffee and desserts in the evening. 

Instructions:

Demos should be submitted, if at all possible, by email to sean@gryphoncafe.com. A link to a website or myspace page is enough for us to get an idea of the sound and style of the music. Demos may be send to CD to the cafe, to the attention of MUSIC MANAGER. No musician is booked without hearing a sample of their abilities.

Booking is done on a rotating basis, so response to a demo will likely take more than a month. If you have specific days that you will be in the area, please note that in the email.
